Valpovo je pitomi slavonski grad smješten na rijeci Karašici. Spominje se još u antičko vrijeme kao rimsko naselj "Iovalium".
Prvi poznati pisani izvor Valpova potječe iz 1332. godine. Danas su sačuvani dijelovi te srednjovjekovne utvrde uklopljeni u kompleks dvorca Prandau-Normann, oko kojega je raslo Valpovo.
Valpovo je udaljeno od Osijeka 25 km, kao i od granice prema Mađarskoj. Podravskom magistralom dolazite preko D. Miholjca, a do auto puta dijeli vas manje od 15 kilometara.
WELCOME TO VALPOVO
Valpovo is a tranquil town in Slavonia situated on the banks of the river Karašica. Records of its existence reach back to Roman times when a settlement under the name of „Iovallium" was first mentioned.
The first written record about Valpovo dates from the year 1332. Nowadays parts of the medieval fort complex have been incorporated into the Prandau-Normann chateaux, around which modern day Valpovo has developed.
Valpovo is only 25 km from Osijek as well as from the Hungarian border. It is easily accessible by following the so called Podravina road via Donji Miholjac or the motorway where a junction some 15 km from the town turns off in its direction.
